Hello and welcome.
My name is Lucy Hannah.
Here you will find my journey of discovery through art.

I thought I didn’t have the patience to be an artist. But when I started to experiment and understand that I don’t have to live inside a box, that I don’t have to colour inside the lines, that I don’t have to conform to a template, then I could breathe and say “Yes! I am an artist.”
Art for me is play, and in play I find treasure.
My love of layers is shown in my art. Some layers you can see, others you can’t… But building up i layers gives the work depth. Each piece takes shape in its own way.
“It looks like geological strata,” said one person, when looking at one of my early felt pieces. And I felt an affinity with the word. Strata.
Layer upon layer, depth upon depth. Something beyond the surface. Something building up, not to be rushed. Something of texture, of tangibility, of unpredictability..
As I create, I discover. I reflect. I see what happens when I do that, or this. I feel it take shape under my hands while knowing I can never fully force it to my bidding. I don’t want to; I want it to show me what it will be. In this way, I am rarely disappointed, but often surprised.
I am so glad you are here.
