under consideration

Robin (c) Lucy Mills
My first attempt at drawing for a while…

 I am considering things.

Considering what I might / could / will do in various ways.

Ideas to do with writing, or books, or other related things.

Ideas to do with books I’ve already written – video reflections, one per chapter, that could be used for individual reflection or group discussion?

Considering what to put down, and what to pick up (if anything).

I’m writing this in the afternoon which means everything feels a little harder.  Considering things is probably best done in the morning (my energy plummets after 2.30pm).

Still, there is a comfort in the considering-before-committing stage.  Like a gentle stretch before exercise; checking the weather before an outside activity.  It is, in its own way, a place of pause.

Coming back to that word again: space.

Space to consider things.

The things I am doing feel varied and disparate, but not in a bad way.  Like toddling round the block as I am able, when the fatigue allows, proofreading pages of magnet in coffee shops, and even (just recently) indulging in a bit of drawing. Birds, so far, only a few, but I think perhaps I should do a few more.

January has never been a favourite month, but by cushioning it in my favour, by making it more of an amber rather than a green light, it has become softer.

Allowing me to consider things…

  1. I found your blog very encouraging. It’s quite hard sometimes to be kind to ones-self! I love your drawings of the long-tailed tit and the robin.

  2. Lovely post Lucy which echoes my own stage of life too, having put down everything in order to move away (tomorrow actually!) Considering a blank page is also pleasurable but occasionally terrifying. Thanks for reminding me of the positives 🙂 x
